2026届新生，欢迎你们！我是宁波诺丁汉大学执行校长尼克·迈尔斯。
A warm welcome to all our new students here today – the class of 2026! I’m Provost Nick Miles.
今天标志着你们个人旅程中一个重要阶段的开始。我们很高兴，也很荣幸大家选择在宁波诺丁汉大学与我们共同开启这个旅程。
Today marks the beginning of an influential period in your personal journey. We are delighted and honoured you have chosen to begin that journey with us here at the University of Nottingham Ningbo China.
在宁诺，我们拥抱瞬息万变的世界所带来的机遇，像你们这样有抱负的人将引领世界变得更加美好。
At UNNC we embrace the opportunities presented by a changing world, and where ambitious people such as yourselves will lead in changing the world for the better.

As our late, great founding president, Professor Yang Fujia said, education is not about being a passive learner, but about developing and enlightening your inner potential so that you will actively pursue new knowledge. Therefore, you will play a proactive role in your education and be dynamic learners willing to challenge conventions and norms and experiment without fear of failure.
你们将成为诺丁汉大家庭的一员，这也意味着你们将加入一个由教职工、在校生和校友组成的广大且优秀的社群。自宁波诺丁汉大学成立18年以来，两万多名宁诺学子已经走遍了世界各个地区，在商业、学术、研究等领域进行了非凡的探索。
By becoming part of the Nottingham family, you will also be joining a large and successful community of staff, teachers, students and alumni. Since the establishment of UNNC, over 18 years ago, more than 20,000 of our students have travelled to every region of the world and had extraordinary adventures in business, academia, research and much more.

Your journey here starts today. There will be great days ahead and a few tough ones as well. But all of these experiences will serve to shape that future “you” – a well-rounded individual who is qualified, confident and enriched by the time you have spent on campus.

Finally, I would like to wish you the best for the next four years which will no doubt be the most life-changing and influential time of your lives.
